Understanding THC & CBD Ratios of Products

Many products at Strains Dispensary of Perris, CA, are labeled with specific CBD to THC ratios. We have organized a detailed explanation of the ratios, what the ratios mean, common effects, and popular ratios found in cannabis products. You are also welcomed to speak with our knowledgeable budtenders about the ideal product and ratio for you on your next visit.

Cannabis Ratios Explained

The cannabis plant produces many cannabinoids that are concentrated in the flower itself. THC and CBD are the two primary cannabinoids found in cannabis oil. Each cannabinoid accounts for a percentage of the total cannabinoid volume. CBD: THC ratios are calculated by comparing the volume of each cannabinoid relative to one another. A 1:2 CBD to THC ratio means that there is twice as much THC as CBD in that product. Products with different CBD: THC ratios have different effects due to the variable cannabinoids and the entourage effect produced.

What is the Entourage Effect?

The entourage effect explains how cannabinoids work together to achieve better results. Medical patients and recreational consumers have found that certain ratios are better at treating certain ailments due to how the cannabinoids work together when attaching to endocannabinoid receptors found throughout the human body.

Common CBD: THC Ratios

Historically, breeders maximized THC content to maximize the psychoactive effect. Today, we know that there are many cannabinoids, including CBD, with a therapeutic value outside of psychoactive effect. Cannabinoids work together to create a better result when partnered in specific ratios matching therapeutic needs. Here are some of the most common CBD:THC ratios found in products and popular among the clients at Strains Dispensary of Perris, CA:

CBD: THC 1:1 – This equal ratio is popular among our clients at Strains Dispensary of Perris, CA. Anecdotal reports, existing medical research, and ongoing studies explain why: This ratio has a reduced psychoactive effect compared to higher THC ratios with a balanced combination of CBD:THC that creates an entourage effect with vast medical benefits for conditions, such as cancer, autism, insomnia, fibromyalgia, neuropathy, and multiple sclerosis.

CBD:THC 1:2 – Twice as much THC as CBD but with reduced THC relative to cannabis plant production, this ratio is good for those wanting the benefits of THC but at a lowered volume that helps reduce feelings of paranoia or anxiety felt by some clients with a high THC ratio. The result often described is a feeling of relaxation without adverse effects that some consumers want to prevent.

CBD:THC 1:0 – This is the preferred ratio for those wanting to escape the psychoactive feeling produced by THC while accessing CBD’s benefits. It contains a high relative CBD content without the high. This ratio is often found in CBD products excellent for mood enhancement, epilepsy, or pain.
