Disposable vs Reusable Vape Pens

There are plenty of options out there for consuming cannabis, one of the most popular is by using a vape pen. For the most part vape pens are categorized into two big categories, disposable and reusable. Depending on your preferences there are both pros and cons to both types of vape pens.

If you are interested in picking up a vape pen so you can discreetly use cannabis while on the go, we’ve provided a breakdown of the differences between disposable and reusable pens to help you decide what’s right for you.

Disposable Vapes

Disposable vape pens are easy to use and ready to use. Since they are disposable they already come pre-filled and you don’t have to worry about charging the battery since you can just throw it away when it’s done.

Although disposable pens appear to be cheaper when first purchased, it can actually cause you to spend more money in the long run due to the fact that you have to keep repurchasing it. You also can’t switch up the cartridge to a different strain or flavor like you can with a reusable pen since it already is pre assembled.

Reusable Vapes

Reusable vape pens are also very easy to use, and once the cartridge is empty you can hold onto the battery and purchase a new cartridge to replace the old one. The battery is also longer lasting and you can charge it which is a selling point for most users.

Reusable vape pens might cost you more upfront because you need to purchase the reusable battery along with the cartridge that you want to put in it. However, in the long run this will cost you less than continuing to buy reusable pens over and over again since you only have to repurchase the cartridge.

Common Types of Cannabis Topicals

Cannabis topicals are a great way to relieve pain or help with skin conditions for those who do not want to experience the intoxicating effects of ingesting THC. There are many different types of cannabis infused topicals that can be applied in different ways.

If you are interested in learning more about cannabis topicals, you are in the right place. Here at Strains Dispensary we’ve provided a breakdown of the most common forms of topicals and included a few of our recommendations.

Salves and Balms

Salves and balms are highly concentrated topicals that can be applied directly to the skin for relieving effects. Your body’s endocannabinoid system is very involved in pain perception, pain response, and inflammation. The endocannabinoid system contains receptors that are able to absorb the CBD or THC infused topicals. Once absorbed the cannabis topicals can help bring down inflammation and help with muscle tension. A few examples of infused balms and salves include:

Lotions and Oils

CBD or THC infused oils, lotions, or serums can help calm breakouts and irritation since they act as an anti-inflammatory. This can also lead to reducing the signs of aging and redness. Studies have also shown that skincare topicals can help with more serious conditions such as psoriasis and eczema. We recommend trying out the following lotions and oils:

What is the Difference Between THC and THCA?

What is the Difference Between THC and THCA?

Although THC and THCA have been compared before, THCA is actually considered to be the predecessor to THC. It’s easy to get the two confused which is why it’s important to recognize that THC and THCA produce very different effects. THC is the part of the cannabis plant that actually gets you high and THCA is an inactive compound found in the trichomes of the live cannabis plant.

Why THC Gets You High and THCA Does Not

THCA is a larger molecule that does not fit into certain cannabinoid receptors which are found in the brain, central nervous system, lungs, liver, and kidneys. In order to get the intoxicating effect, a cannabinoid must fit into a cannabinoid receptor.

THC is the most researched cannabinoid out of the hundreds that are found in the cannabis plant. This is because it is one of the cannabinoids that contribute to the euphoric high that is unique to the cannabis plant.

How Does THCA Become THC?

Heat and light remove the carboxylic acid group from THCA which alters the chemical structure making it the perfect shape to fit into those cannabinoid receptors mentioned earlier. Although THCA doesn’t have intoxicating effects some consider it to be a superfood when it’s in its freshest and most raw form.

Much like avocados, kale, and other superfoods, raw cannabis (before heat and light are applied) has potential to ease arthritis, chronic pain, and other ailments. So, although THCA does not put you into the same euphoric state as THC it still has its benefits and should not be underestimated.
